Tamra Purification (Method 1)

PROCESS

Go-Mutra (cow's fresh urine), Jambeer Swaras (see glossary) or Kalka (see glossary) prepared from Amlika and Shudh (purified) Tankan are mixed together to form a thick paste. The paste is applied to Tamra pieces which are then roasted over flames for 1 Prahar (see glossary) after which Shudh Tamra is obtained.

  • Nighanturatnakar does not mention the nature of Agni (Tivra, Madhyam, Mand or flame intensity for cooking the Tamra mixture.
