ABOUT
Sodium carbonate (also known as washing soda or soda ash), Na2CO3, is a sodium salt of carbonic acid. It most commonly occurs as a crystalline heptahydrate, which readily effloresces to form a white powder, the monohydrate. It has a cooling alkaline taste, and can be extracted from the ashes of many plants. It is synthetically produced in large quantities from table salt in a process known as the Solvay process.
SHODHAN OR AYURVEDA PURIFICATION PROCESS
No specific purification process for Sajji-Kshaar is found in Ayurveda treatise which may indicate that Sajji-Kshaar does not require to undergo specific purification process and can be directly used as medicine. However if Sajji-Kshaar is contaminated with dust or other foreign particles it is advisable to filter them out.
NOTE
It is interesting to note that certain factions of Ayurveda co-relate Sodium bicarbonate as Sajji-kshaar. This information requires further investigation
