ABOUT

Gud implies to Jaggery. Jaggery is a traditional unrefined sugar used throughout South and South East Asia.Though Jaggery is used for the products of both sugarcane and the date palm tree, technically, the word refers solely to sugarcane sugar. The sugar made from the sap of the date palm is both more prized and less available outside of the districts where it is made. The sago palm and coconut palm are also now tapped for producing jaggery in southern India.

SHODHAN OR AYURVEDA PURIFICATION PROCESS

No specific purification process for Gud is found in Ayurveda treatise which may indicate that Gud does not require to undergo specific purification process and can be directly used as medicine. However if Gud is contaminated with dust or other foreign particles it is advisable to filter them out.
