The Ayurveda term implies formulation prepared from powdered gemstones. Pishti formulation have soft butter-like appearnce. Pishti formulation is considered as an alternative in patients who cannot tolerate Bhasma(calcinied ash) prepared from gemstones. Gems are treated by triturating and macerating in juices of plants followed by drying to obtain a micro fine powder. Pishti is generally prepared by processing powdered gemstones with Rose water / milk cream/ butter etc. which are cool in nature. Pishti formulation are more often used by Hakims(practitioners of Unaani system of medicine).
