ABOUT
The Damaru-Yantra is comprised of two earthen vessels of the same size. Medicines (Mostly used to prepare Parad Bhasma or calcinied ash of Mercury) to be prepared/ procured are placed in the lower vessel.The second earthen vessel is placed over the medicine containing earthen vessel with its face downwards such that the brims of both the vessels are face to face. Both the vessels are then sealed by mud smeared cloth at the face.The appartus is then placed over a heat/flame source for a prescribed time. Note that the heat is applied at the bottom and cool cloths are applied to the bottom of the top vessel. This cloth causes the medicine (mostly Parad or mercury) vapor to condense and stick to the inside bottom surface.
