Sharav-Samput / Put-Yantra

Sharav Samput

ABOUT

Sharav-Samput refers to a appartus used in preparation of Ras formulations . It's made of two identical clay bowls (earthen vessel) that can be filled with the desired material and placed opposed and sealed with seven layers of mudded cloth. It's dried in sun and then is placed in a pit created specific of formulation (Gajput, Laghuput etc.). The whole mass is fired for a specified duration and repetition. The lack of oxygen inside the mated bowls yields a special form of mineral oxide that floats on water when prepared properly.

NOTE

  • Sharav-Samput is also known as Put-Yantra.

  • Sharav-Samput is practically used in majority of Rassshastra formulations.
