ABOUT

The Ayruveda term Kukkutput implies to a specific setup prepared to cook/roast medicinal ingredients or mixtures at a optimum specific temperature for ideal end-result formulation. Kukkutput process requires construction of pit in the ground 3/4ft by 3/4ft square and 3/4ft deep (Ayurveda books mention 3/4 Vit X 1.5 Vit X 1.5 Vit length where Vit== length between little finger and thumb in an extended palm. This can be approximated as 3/4ft). This pit is covered with dry cow-dung collected in their natural state. The medicine to be cooked is put in a sealed vessel and placed in between the dung cakes. The dung cakes are set to flame and the medicine is allowed to burn till the dung-cakes burn out.

NOTE

  • Many times in place of cow-dung cakes, wood /dry twigs/ branches from specific plants as per formulation demands are used .

  • The number of times the entire burning process is repeated is denoted as that many number of Kukkutput. For example if a formulation requires 8 Kukkutput then the entire contents are cooked 8 times in the above described setup where each and every material except the pit created is prepared fresh
