ABOUT
The classical Ayurveda plant Bala is co-related to the genus Sida botanically. The probable species of this genus which can be accepted as the source of Bala are enumerated.
NOTE
- The taxon which is highly accepted is displayed as SPECIES 1 and the rest follow chronologically.
- The Bala as per descriptions in Ancient texts is referred to as BalaChatustyam or group of
four. These consist of Bala, Atibala, Nagbala and Mahabala. Texts like Raaj Nighantu
and Shaaligram Nighantu also refer to another variety called RaajBala and make them
group of five or BalaPancham.
