Laxmivilas (Mahalaxmivilas) Ras (Method 2)

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 2 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 2 Tola are blended together to form Kajjali. Abrakh Bhasma 4 Tola, Vang Bhasma 1 Tola, Swarn-Makshik Bhasma 6 Masha, Tamra Bhasma 3 Masha, Swarn Bhasma 6 Masha and Raupya Bhasma 6 Masha are pounded together and mixed with Kajjali to form a fine blend. The Kajjali mixture is processed with Taambol Patra (Patra == Leaf) Swaras till a uniform blend is achieved. This formulation is known as Mahalaxmivilas Ras.

NOTE

  • This preparation of Mahalaxmivilas Ras is the described by Vinodlalsen in his commentary on Bhaisajyaratnavalli.

  • Laxmivilas Ras is often mistaken with Laxmivilas Guti described by Bhaisajyaratnavalli. Although both formulations are named similarly as Laxmivilas Ras they are entirely different formulations with respect to contents and medicinal properties.

  • Abrakh Bhasma Shat(100)-puti must be used in preparation of Maha-Laxmivilas Ras.
