Kasis Bhasma

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Kasis (green in colour) is heated on an iron pan. On heating Kasis melts and the liquid so obtained is dried. The mixture is then blended with fresh Amalaki or Bhringraaj or Dadim juice.The mixture is then sealed in an earthen vessel and given 2 Laghuput(see glossary) to obtain red-coloured Kasis Bhasma.

NOTE

Vaidyas advise to use Dadim fruit which is grown in Kabul. It is known as Kabuli Anar and is black in colour as compared to normal Dadim. Whether Kabuli Dadim is a variation of Dadim or is a different species needs further investigation.
