PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 1 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 1 Tola are blended to form a Kajjali. Hartaal Bhasma 1 Tola, Mansheel Bhasma 1 Tola and Tamra Bhasma 1 Tola are mixed with the Kajjali to form a fine blend. The Kajjali mixture is given 21 Bhavana (treatments) each with the following Bhavana-Dravya(Items used for treating the formulation); Kwaath prepared from Vacha and Brahmi Swaras; till a uniform blend is achieved. The mixture is then given final 1 Bhavana with Jyotishmati Beej-Tail (Beej-Tail == Seed Oil). This formulation is called Smrutisagar Ras.

NOTE

  • The above preparation method of Smrutisagar Ras is also mentioned in the treatiseRasyogsagar.

  • The plant Brahmi is confused for different species. Hence both the two prominent species Centella asiatica Linn. and Bacopa monnieri Linn. are used by certain Vaidyas while preparing Smrutisagar Ras

  • Kajjali prepared in the above formulation must adhere or comply with the Kajjali preparation description and standards as mentioned in various Ayurveda treatise.(see glossary)
