Many varieties of Kanchanar are described in the Ayurveda text with respect to the colour of its flower. The very fact makes it difficult to pin point a a specific taxon as the correct source of Kanchnaar. Different species under the genus Bauhinia can be accepted as Kanchnar or its varities. The various taxons discussed and contempelated as possible and accurate source of Kanchnar have been enumerated.NOTE
