Parad Purification (Alternate Method 1)

PROCESS

Parada is vigourously blended with soda-lime powder for 3 consecutive days. Each day the mixture is strained through the cloth and fresh sodalime powder used the next day. At the end of third day, the strained Parada is transferred to a Khalvayantra (mortar, see glossary). A paste prepared from Rason (decorticated garlic, equal quanity to Parada) and Saindhav Lavan (Himalayan crystal salt, half the quanity of Parada) is added to the Parada containing Khalvayantra and the mixture is thoroughly blended over a periiod of time till a black residue is formed. The mixture is then washed with clean wayter which results in purified Parada being seperated. The Parad so purified is collected and stored for use.

Parad Purification (Alternate Method 1) - Ingredient Details

NOTE

Apart from the eighteen sanskaras we also come across certain procedures to purify Parada in one step. Few references collected from certain texts of authority have been discussed below. Ayurveda physicians inform that Parada treated or purified with below procedures must again be treated to 8 sanskara of Deh-Vada before use as medicine. Apparently there are certain Vaidyas who directly utilise Parada in medicine after udertaking above mentioned procedure. While both information data might be true and beneficial it is always advisable to use Parada as medicine after treating it with al 8 sanskaras of Deh-Vada as mentioned in the treatise.
