PROCESS

Shilajit pieces are washed thoroughly with clean water and dried. On drying, Shilajit pieces are given Bhavana (treatments) for one entire day with each of the following; Go-Dugdha, Triphala Kwaath and Bhringraaj Swaras (see glossary). After 3 days of processing, Shilajit is allowed to dry in sun to obtain Shudh (purified) Shilajit.

NOTE

Charak Samhita and other Ayurveda authors mentions about certain charecteristics to verify Shudh or purified Shilajit.
  • Shudh (purified)Shilajit burns on flame without emanating any fumes.

  • Shudh Shilajit on complete burning gives an elongated appearnce resembling a Linga (Skt.)(Linga == penis)

  • Shudh Shilajit has a strong scent resembeling that of Go-Mutra(cow's fresh urine)

  • Shudh Shilajit on dropping in vessel containing water, disperses into fine strains and slowly drips to the bottom.(This data requires further verification.)
