Kansya Purification(Method 1)

PROCESS

Kansya pieces are heated till they turn red-hot. On heating, Kansya pieces are immediately dipped in each of the following; Tail (see glossary), Takra (buttermilk), Go-Mutra (cow's fresh urine), Kwaath (see glossary) prepared from Kulathi and Kaanji (see glossary). The process of heating Kansya and dipping in each of the above 5 elements is repeated 3 times to obtain Shudh (purified) Kansya.

NOTE

  • Rasratnasamucchay does not specifically indicate which Tail (oil) is to be used in the above process. Ayurvedsarsangrah however advises to use Til-Tail (sesame oil) for the purification process.

  • It is a general rule followed by healers to use fresh mediums for dipping the element to be purified each time the process is repeated even if not mentioned in the reference
