Raupya Purification (Method 1)

PROCESS

Raupya pieces are heated till they turn red-hot. On heating, Raupya pieces are immediately dipped in each of the following; Tail (see glossary), Takra (buttermilk), Go-Mutra (cow's fresh urine), Kwaath (see glossary) prepared from Kulathi and Kaanji (see glossary). The process of heating Raupya and dipping in each of the above 5 elements is repeated 7 times to obtain Shudh (purified) Raupya.

NOTE

  • Rasratnasamucchay has mentioned the use of specific Kaanji preparation called Aarnaal. Aarnaal is prepared from Yav (barley).

  • Rasratnasamucchay does not specifically indiacte which Tail (oil) is to be used in the above process.
