Ras-Sindoor (Kshadgunbalijaarit)

PREPARATION

Freshly prepared Ras-sindoor is cooked in Damru-Yantra (see glossary) to obtain Parad (end-product). The obtained Parad is again mixed with Gandhak and Navsagar to obtain Kajjali which is cooked in Valuka-Yantra (see glossary) to get Ras-Sindoor (see Ras-Sindoor preparation for details).The Ras-Sindoor so obtained is again cooked in Damru-Yantra to obtain Parad. Ras-Sindoor is processed similarly for 6 times after which it is stored.

NOTE

  • The process of blending/digesting Parad with other entities like Swarn(Gold), Gandhak etc is known as Jaran. Since in the above preparation method of Ras-Sindoor, Parad is digested 6 times the Ras-Sindoor is termed as Ksadgunbalijaarit Ras-Sindoor (Kshad== 6, Jaarit==Jaran).
  • Kshadgunbalijaarit Ras-Sindoor is considered to be more potent than Ras-Sindoor due to its process involving micro-blending of Parad.
  • Certain Rasvaidyas consider Parad obtained after the preparation of Kshadgunbalijaarit Ras-Sindoor as Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad since Shudh Parad also gets digested 6 times in the process. However Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad is also prepared by digesting Parad with Gandhak. For details refer Kshadgunbalijaarit-Parad preparation.
