Kravyad Ras

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 4 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 8 Tola are blended together to form Kajjali. Tamra Bhasma 1 Tola and Loh Bhasma 1 Tola are added to the Kajjali and thoroughly blended. The mixture is then transferred to an iron vessel and heated till the mixture melts. On melting the mixture is placed over an Erand Patra (Patra == Leaf) and pressed to form Parpati (see glossary). Parpati is pounded and again heated in an iron vessel. Jambeer Swaras is slowly poured over the heating mixture at a constant rate. The process is continued till the Parpati absorbs almost 256 Tola of Jambeer Swaras. The vessel is then removed from the flames and allowed to cool. The mixture is then processed with a Kwaath prepared from Pippali Phal, Pippalimool (Roots of Pippali are known as Pippalimool), Chavya, Chitrak, Shunthi and Amlavetas. The mixture is given 50Bhavana (treatments) with the Kwaath and dried. Shudh Tankan in equal proportion to the Kajjali mixture and Panch Lavan(Phal == Fruit) Churn in equal proportion to the resultant mixture is finally blended and the compound is processed in Kshaar (refer glossary) water prepared from Chanak. The mixture is given 7Bhavana after which it is dried and stored. This formulation is called Kravyad Ras.
