Darad-Sindoor

PREPARATION

Shudh(purified) Parad 9 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 5.5 Tola are blended together to form Kajjali(see glossary).Ras-Karpoor 9 Tola and Shudh Hingul 4.5 Tola are added to the Kajjali and the mixture is thoroughly blended. The Kajjali mixture is then transferred to a Kaach-Kupi(glass flask, refer glossary).The Kaach-Kupi is layered 7 times with cloth plastered with wet-mud/clay and the Kaach-Kupi is cooked in Valuka-Yantra(see glossary) for 2 days. On cooling the Kaach-Kupi is broken and Darad-Sindor which gets accumlated at the Kaach-Kupi neck is collected. Darad-Sindoor is then crushed in a flat surfaced stone vessel into fine powder which is stored.
