Loh(Tikshna, Kant, Mund Loh) Bhasma (Sahastra)puti

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Loh (any of the three varieties) coarse-powder is processed in Triphala-Kwaath (decoction) and the mixture rolled into a cake.On drying the mixture is transferred to an earthen vessel and given a Gajput (see glossary).The process is repeated 1000 times. Hence the Loh bhasma so obtained is called "1000 (Sahastraputi) puti Loh Bhasma".

NOTE

To test if Loh Bhasma is prepared correctly small amount of the end-product must be sprinkled over a cut Amalki (Phyllanthus emblica, Avala,Gooseberry) fruit. If the fruit pulp turns black then the Loh Bhasm is not correctly formed and can create health-problems. Correctly formed Loh Bhasma has no effect on Amalki pulp.
