Hemgarbh Ras.

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 4 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 2 Tola are blended to form a Kajjali. Swarn Bhasma 2 Tola and Tamra Bhasma 3 Tola are mixed with the Kajjali to form a fine blend. The Kajjali mixture is processed with Kumari Swaras for 7 days till a uniform blend is achieved. Each day fresh Swaras is used. The Kajjali-mixture is mixed with small amounts of Shudh Gandhak and the entire mixture is bandaged with a cloth in shape of a poultice. This poultice in Ayurveda terminology is known as Pottali. The Pottali is then transferred to an earthen vessel which is filled with Shudh Gandhak in a quantity equal to the weight of the Pottali. Another earthen vessel is placed over it and both the vessels are sealed with clay and mud. A small hole is cut at top of the earthen vessel and a small rod which exactly fits the hole is inserted to facilitate stirring of the ingredients and to check the process. The entire setup is placed in a Valukayantra (see glossary) which is exposed to constant low flame (Mrudu-Agni) for 2 hours. On cooling the inner contents of the Pottali are procured and stored. This formulation is called Hemgarbh Ras
