PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 16parts and Shudh Gandhak 16parts are blended together to form Kajjali. Shudh (purified) Guggul 16parts is dissolved in water. Loh Bhasma 16parts, Tamra Bhasma 16parts, Shunthi 16parts, Marich Phal(Phal == Fruit) 16parts, Pippali Phal 16parts, Shudh Kuchla 16parts, Chitrak 16parts, Shudh Shilajit 16parts, Karanj Beej (Beej == Seed) Churn 64parts and Abrakh Bhasma 64parts are pounded together to form a coarse powder and added to the Kajjali. The Kajjali mixture is then added to the Guggul mixed water and thoroughly blended. As the mixture soaks water, a paste prepared from Go-Ghrut and Madhu is added to the mixture and again blended till it gives a soft butter like appearance. This formulation is called Kushtkuthar Ras. Kushtkuthar Ras so formed is then stored.

NOTE

  • Kajjali prepared in the above formulation must adhere or comply with the Kajjali preparation description and standards as mentioned in various Ayurveda treatise.(see glossary)

  • Shudh Parad obtained as an end - product while preparing Rassindoor is generally preferred to be used while preparing Kushtkuthar Ras (For details refer Rassindoor).

  • Abrakh Bhasma Shat(100)-puti must be used in preparation of Kushtkuthar Ras.

  • Go-Ghrut and Madhu are taken in unequal proportions. For example; 2parts Go-Ghrut and 1part Madhu or vice versa.

  • Vaidyas (Ayurveda physicians) advise to store Kushtkuthar Ras in a vessel which is internally layered or plastered with Go-Ghrut

  • Kushtkuthar Ras is also known as Galatkushtaari Ras.
