Udaraari Ras

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 1part and Shudh Gandhak 1part are blended together to form Kajjali (refer glossary). Shauktik Bhasma 1part,Tuthya Bhasma 1part, Shudh Jaypal 1part, Pippali Phal 1part and Aragwadh Phalmajja (Phalmajja== fruit pulp) are pounded to form a coarse powder and mixed with Kajjali. The Kajjali mixture is then processed in Snuhi Ksheer (milky latex) and dried. This formulation is called Udaraari Ras. On drying Udaraari Ras is rolled into tablets each measuring 2Gunj (see glossary).

NOTE

  • Kajjali prepared in the above formulation must adhere or comply with the Kajjali preparation description and standards as mentioned in various Ayurveda treatise.(see glossary)

  • Aushadhigundharmshastra prefers Alpkantak Snuhi variety of Snuhi to prepare Udaraari Ras

  • Seven different methods of preparation of Udaraari Ras are found in various Ayurveda treatises. The ingredients although constant, most of the formulations vary on their proportion. Aushadhigundharmshastra mentions that Udaraari Ras prepared by the above method is most effective.

  • Udaraari Ras and Jalodaraari Ras are distinct formulations. However they are many a times confused as synonyms.

  • 1Gunj approx 125mg
