Parad (Kshadgunbalijaarit )

PREPARATION

Shudh(purified) Gandhak is taken in an Kaach-Kupi(glass flask, see glossary).Kaach-Kupi is layered 7 times with cloth plastered with wet-mud/clay and the Kaach-Kupi is cooked in Valuka-Yantra(see glossary). As Gandhak melts equal amount of Shudh Parad is added to the Kaach-Kupi and cooked. On cooling the Kaach-Kupi is procured and immediately covered with a vessel so that Parad does not escape. After some time, Parad which gets accumlated beneath the upper vessel cover alongwith the Parad-Gandhak Kajjali which gets accumlated in the Kaach-Kupi is collected. The mixture is again blended and cooked in Valuka-Yantra. This process is repeated 6 times at the end of which Parad procured is stored and used. This Parad is known as Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad and is considred to be more effective to be used in Kupipakv Rasayan as compared to Shudh Parad.

Parad (Kshadgunbalijaarit ) - Ingredient Details

NOTE

  • The process of blending/digesting Parad with other entities like Swarn (Gold), Gandhak etc is known as Jaran. Since in the above preparation Parad is digested 6 times with Gandhak it is known as Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad (Kshad== 6, Jaarit==Jaran).

  • Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad is considered to be more potent than Shudh Parad due micro-blending of Parad.

  • Many treatise use iron or clay vessel instead of Kaach-Kupi for the preparation.

  • Certain Rasvaidyas consider Parad obtained after the preparation of Kshadgunbalijaarit Ras-Sindoor as Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad since Shudh Parad also gets digested 6 times in the process. However Kshadgunbalijaarit Parad is also prepared by digesting Parad with Gandhak. For details refer Kshadgunbalijaarit Ras-Sindoor preparation.
