Chaturjaat itself is not an individual entity but a name attributed to the combination of 4 (Chatur == 4) herbal entities; Twak, Tamalpatra (Leaves of Twak are known as Tamalpatra), Ela and Naagkeshar. Equal proportions of Twak, Tamalpatra, Ela and Naagkeshar constitute the group Chaturjaat.
