Loh (Tikshna Loh) Bhasm

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Tikshana Loh is coarsely powdered and blended with Triphala Kwaath (decoction). Small amount of coarsely pounded rice is added to the above paste and rolled into cake. The cake is dried and given 5 Gajput (refer glossary) to obtain red-coloured Loh Bhasma.

NOTE

To test if Loh Bhasma is prepared correctly small amount of the end-product must be sprinkled over a cut Amalki (Phyllanthus emblica, Avala,Gooseberry) fruit. If the fruit pulp turns black then the Loh Bhasm is not correctly formed and can create health-problems. Correctly formed Loh Bhasma has no effect on Amalki pulp.
