Agnimukh Ras

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 1 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 1 Tola are blended together to form Kajjali (refer glossary). Shudh Vatsanabh 1 Tola is then added to the Kajjali and the mixture is treated with Aradrak Swaras(juice). Amlika 3 Tola, Pipal 3 Tola, Apamarg Kshaar 3 Tola, Yava Kshaar 3 Tola, Sajji Kshaar 3 Tola, Shudh Tankan 3 Tola, Jaatiphal 3 Tola, Lavang 3 Tola, Trikatu Churn 3 Tola, Triphala Churn 3 Tola, Hingu 2 Tola, Jeerak 2 Tola and Shankh Bhasm 20 Tola are are finely powdered and added to the mixture. The mixture is treated with Swaras (juice) procured from fruits having Amla Rasa (sour taste, citrus fruits) like Jambeer, Matuling etc. This formulation is called Agnimukh Ras. Agnimukh Ras after treatment is dried and rolled into tablets each measuring 1Gunj (see glossary).

NOTE

  • Kajjali prepared in the above formulation must adhere or comply with the Kajjali preparation description and standards as mentioned in various Ayurveda treatise.(see glossary)

  • The above preparation method of Agnimukh Ras is also mentioned in Yog Ratnakar.

  • Amla Rasa Dravya denote plants having Amla (sour) taste. The list include plants like Matuling (Citrus medica), Jambeer (Citrus limon), Kokam (Garinia indica) etc. Yog Ratnakar mentions that high number of Bhavana (treatments) given to Agnikumar ingredients with Amla Dravya imparts high medicinal potency to the formulation.
