Shauktik (Samanya) Bhasma

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Shauktik is taken in an earthen vessel. The vessel is sealed and burnt in approximate 1 Sher of wood or coal. After the process is done the mixture is cooled and the Shauktik procured from the vessel.Shauktik so procured is now transferred to a vessel made from stone (Kharal, see glossary) and processed in fresh lime juice.The process is repeated 2-3 times after which the mixture is filtered through a cloth and stored for use.

NOTE

  • Shauktik are of two types. One procured from Mauktik (Pearl Shells) and the other Samanya (Simple) ones. The above method is predominantly used to prepare Bhasma from Simple Shells though Raschandanshu mentions that it can be used for both varities

  • 1 Sher approx. 1kg
