Chandrakala Ras (Method 1)

PREPARATION

Shudh (purified) Parad 1 Tola and Shudh Gandhak 2 Tola are blended together to form Kajjali. Tamra Bhasma 1 Tola and Abrakh Bhasma 1 Tola are added to the Kajjali to form a fine blend. The Kajjali-mixture is given 1 Bhavana each with following Bhavana-Dravya(Items used for treating the formulation) ;Musta (Nagar-Mustak variety) Swaras, Dadim Swaras, Durva Swaras, Kwaath prepared from Ketak, Kwaath prepared from Sahdevi, Kumari Swaras, Kwaath prepared from Parpat, Talmuli Swaras and Shatavari Swaras. The Kajjali mixture is processed for 1 day each with each of the above mentioned Bhavana - Dravya. Kutki 1 Tola, Guduchi Satv 1 Tola, Parpat 1 Tola, Usheer 1 Tola, Pippali1 Tola, Shwet-Chandan 1 Tola and Sariva 1 Tola are pounded to form a fine powder which is mixed with the Kajjali. The Kajjali mixture is given final 7 Bhavana (treatment) with Kwaath prepared from Draksha Phal ( Phal == Fruit, Dried Draksha Phal or Raisins are used). This formulation is called Chandrakala Ras. Chandrakala Ras is then rolled into a ball and stored in a Dhanyaraashi (Dhanyaraashi == A vessel or sack stored with grains like rice, wheat etc.).

NOTE

  • Kajjali prepared in the above formulation must adhere or comply with the Kajjali preparation description and standards as mentioned in various Ayurveda treatise.(see glossary)

  • Aushadhigundharmshastra has interpreted the Bhavana Dravya "Talmuli" as "Kharjur" and the ingredient "Magdhi" (Magdhi is a synonym for Pippali) as Madhavi (Hiptage benghalensis).

  • Abrakh Bhasma Shat(100)-puti must be used in preparation of Chandrakala Ras.

  • 1 Tola approx. 11gm

  • 1Gunj approx 125mg
