Shankhpushpi / Vishnukranta
ABOUT
The botanical identity of the classical Ayurveda plants Shankhpushpi and Vishnukranta are arguable. Vishnukranta and Shankhpushpi are regarded as synonyms by many scholars.Many scholars informed that Shankhpushpi exhibits two varieties white and blue. The
blue variety is advised to be accepted as Vishnukranta (flower colour resembles Lord Vishnu ) while the white variety as Shankhpushpi. Vishnukranta’s
morphological description in the classical texts is sparse. The plant taxon which are discussed as the probable source are enumerated.
