Ahifen

ABOUT

The classical plant Ahifen is co-related to the genus Papaver.

NOTE

  • Ahifen exhibits two varities as per the color of its flowers; Krishna (dark colored) and span class="b">Rakta (red colored). The dark-colored variety is generally used for Ayurveda preparations.

  • Ahifen fruits are known as Khaskhas and Poste, Dode in local Indian herbal markets. Fruits of both these varities are available and used as a tonic. However the fruits of Papaver rhus must be accepted as Poste Dode if mentioned in Ayurveda formulatio descriptions found in languages other than Sanskrit
