ABOUT
The classical plant Ahifen is co-related to the genus Papaver.
NOTE
- Ahifen exhibits two varities as per the color of its flowers; Krishna (dark colored) and span class="b">Rakta
(red colored). The dark-colored variety is generally used for Ayurveda preparations.
Ahifen fruits are known as Khaskhas and Poste, Dode in local Indian herbal markets. Fruits of both these varities are available and used as a tonic. However the fruits of Papaver rhus must be accepted as Poste Dode if mentioned in Ayurveda formulatio descriptions found in languages other than Sanskrit
