Mundi

ABOUT

The classical Ayurveda plant Mundi is co-related to the genus Sphaeranthus botanically. A scan of ethnomedicinal data available informs about two different varieties of Mundi. The varieties are segregated with respect to size of the plant and termed as Mundi (small variety) and Maha Mundi (big variety). These varities can also be co-related to the size of fruits. The description data about the varieties indicate them to be variations of the same species occuring due to geographical dimensions. However a further investigation is required.(This abstract is borrowed from the research thesis by Dr. Sumit Ashok Kesarkar and is copyright protected) The current accepted taxon as the probable source of Mundi is listed.
