ABOUT

Kajjali implies to black sulphide of Mercury. In terms of Ayurveda alchemy, Kajjali is the alchemical child from which most of the other alchemical substances are created. Ayurveda Rasayanshastra (alchemy as its denoted) describes Parad (Mercury), as the semen of Lord Shiva which is the physical embodiment of the fire of transformation (Skt: tejas). It can provide incredible amounts of tejas to an organism, and can make them capable of digesting almost anything at physical, mental and spiritual levels. The immense power of Parad needs a balance to control its energy. That balance is the element Gandhak (sulfur). Gandhak is described as the elemental embodiment of blood, that which the body uses to create everything else (from an Ayurvedic perspective), and the only thing capable of controlling Parad. Gandhak is the womb which when combined with Parad creates the child Kajjali (the black sulfide of mercury).

NOTE

General Preparation Method for Kajjali

Shudh(purified) Parad and Shudh Gandhak taken in equal proportion are throughly blended in a flat surfaced stone vesel. The mixture is grinded till it turns black and gives a smooth appearance. This mixture is known as Kajjali.
