The Ayurveda term Ghruta implies to clarified butter or any polyherbal, monoherbal or herbo-mineral formulation with base as butter. General preparation method includes boiling herbal mixtures in proportionate quantity of clarified butter and water/milk/herbal-decoction/herbal-tea/infusion/buttermilk etc. till oil remains. The procured oil is filtered and stored for use as medicine both internal as well as external. Clarified butter to be used is generally procured from cow.
