Bhringraaj

ABOUT

Ayurveda literature describes about three species of Maka; Maka (bearing White flowers), Pitt-Maka also known as Keshranjana (bearing Yellow flowers) and Krishna-Maka(bearing dark-coloured flowers). The plant taxon which are discussed or accepted as the possible source of theses varieties have been enumerated. Krishna-Maka variety is considered rare and very little information about its morpghological description can be found in the literature. The plant variety requires further investigation for taxonomical data.

NOTE

It is important to note that the term Bhringraaj in Ayurveda formulations majority refers to Krishna variety of Bhringraaj. In its absence the White variety is preferred.
